Auntie’s Listening?

Having ranted last week about the threat to 6 Music, I thought I ought to find something good to say about the BBC. Actually it wasn’t all that hard and I was torn between recommending Jen Long’s excellent series of blog posts on the key players in the music industry (agents, managers, press and publishers) and the BBC Introducing Upload page for new music:

I think it’s great that the BBC is prepared to solicit new music and give it a chance to be heard on local or national radio. One question – can anyone tell me about their experience of being picked and actually getting airtime?

Hello, thanks for the kind words. One of the nicest things about working on BBC Introducing is seeing the positive reactions in tweets from bands when their tracks get played on one of radio shows.

I tend to favourite these on twitter so you can see them for yourself here:

    Hope that’s helpful!

Thanks – it’s an impressive roll of emerging artists!

We’ll try to make sure that as many of these artists as possible get their music into the Psonar Cloud so that people have a permanent opportunity to hear samples of theor music. If they’ve got tracks available in the Amazon download store then fans can buy that way. Otherwise if artists contact us directly (via ‘feedback’ on the title bar when logged-in) we can set up download (free or paid-for) via their own websites.
